About the Devin Laubi Foundation
The
Devin Laubi Foundation raises funds to financially assist families of children
stricken with cancer in southeastern Massachusetts, throughout New England
and across the United States. Parents have enough to worry about when caring
for a seriously ill child. They should not have to worry about their bills
or job security during this time of crisis. Frightened children need every
facet of their parents' attention. The Foundation's aim is to remove one
of the many burdens. View the list of Foundation trustees and board members.
Our family learned this first hand, with the loss of our six-year-old
son, Devin, to cancer (medulloblastoma, a brain tumor). This was a devastating
loss. The financial ramifications forced us to make decisions no parent should
have to consider: go to work or be where your heart is or potentially lose
your home from the loss of income. Maintaining stability and normalcy is
difficult during turmoil.
Please consider attending an event or making
a donation to help a family in need of assistance. We have tax receipts
if needed, as we are tax exempt (state and federal).

About Devin
Devin
Laubi was born on August 23, 1996. He lived his whole life in the small
town of Westport, Massachusetts. His parents enjoyed watching him grow,
learn and explore his new world.
Devin emulated his big brother, Reid, especially in sports, which he excelled
in at an early age. Devin's energetic, adventurous, playful nature endeared
him to everyone. Being smart, funny, precocious yet innocent, kept his family
and friends entertained. His younger sister, Audra, adored him, always wanting
to be by his side, the best of friends.
Devin was diagnosed on Valentine's Day, 2003, with an aggressive
brain tumor called medulloblastoma at the age of six. The doctors initially
predicted his survival rate was 70%, a percentage that then plummeted to
40%, 25% and finally 3%. He slipped into a coma on Easter and succumbed to
this disease on April 24, 2003.
People were very generous during his battle with cancer. Trying to put a
smile on a child's face, if only for a moment, let him forget his intense
pain. He would ask why people were giving him so many things. As parents,
we explained that they just wanted him to be happy. Devin replied that he
wished he had something to give back to all these people, so here it is… his
Foundation.
